Job Summary: MVEA is looking for a detail oriented, self-motivated, well organized, personable System Administrator. In this role you will support the Information Technology infrastructure by being responsible for the design, configuration, installation, security, maintenance, documentation, and overall administration of the corporate network (LAN/WAN/Wireless) and server systems. Responsibilities also include administering system and network configuration backups, meeting required metrics in the areas of network and system reliability and availability and overseeing data closet and data center operations.
Job Responsibilities:
- Installs, configures, tests, maintains, monitors, troubleshoots, and backs up all network devices including switches, routers, load balancers, firewalls, and other network devices.
- Installs, configures, tests, maintains, monitors, troubleshoots, and backs up all physical servers and virtual infrastructure, including servers and storage.
- Installs, setup, configure and maintain equipment in data center and data closets, including battery backups, air conditioning systems and other equipment in the data center. Responsible for overall cleanliness and usability of each location.
- Designs, implements, maintains, and regularly tests a tiered backup system that includes local and off-site backups utilizing Veeam, Zerto and other backup methodologies to protect the critical infrastructure of the cooperative.
- Installs, configures, monitors, troubleshoots, and optimizes the performance of all employee facing systems; work with vendors to acquire technical support as needed with NISC (AppSuite, ABS, CC&B, GIS, IVR, OMS, Vault, etc.), and Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL).
- Administers, patches, upgrades, and supports employee facing systems including Microsoft Office 365, SharePoint and Teams sites, accounting and customer care and billing application. Coordinates support with vendor as needed.
- Recommends, schedules, and performs infrastructure system improvements, patching, upgrades, and repairs.
- Participates in the evaluation and purchase of security, network, and infrastructure related products with the Information Technology Supervisor.
- Maintains system and network performance by conducting monitoring, analysis, and performance tuning activities; troubleshooting infrastructure problems; escalating problems to vendor(s).
- Diagrams, documents, and maintains detailed records of infrastructure design, device locations, network and system configurations, and IP addresses.
- Installs, runs, terminates and test copper and fiber optic cable or supervises contractors during the installation of copper and fiber cable as needed.
- Performs OS installation, troubleshooting, patching and maintenance for all Windows and Linux servers. Work with vendors as needed to complete necessary requirements.
- Ensures the availability of client/server applications, configuring new implementations and develop processes and procedures for ongoing management of the server environment.
- Actively protects information technology assets and infrastructure from internal and external threats by maintaining knowledge of firewalls and other security solutions (web filter, spam filter, IPS/IDS).
- Participates in virtual machine security architecture and administration activities with the Information Technology Supervisor
- Research current and emerging technology as it relates to network and system administration and suggest changes, upgrades, and improvements as appropriate.
- Provides training and technical assistance to hardware and software users as it relates to your position.
- Assist in developing long-term strategies and capacity planning for future technology needs.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical field; or equivalent work experience
- Strong knowledge of network management and analysis tools such as WireShark, Nmap, tcpdump, etc.
- Working knowledge of network systems, protocols, and standards such as Ethernet, LAN, WAN, xDSL, TCP/IP, fiber, T1, 802.11x, etc.
- Hardware, software, and network connection troubleshooting experience.
- Experience and extensive knowledge to effectively use current Microsoft Office products.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Maintain a valid Colorado driver’s license.
- Available to work irregular hours for meetings, training, emergencies, and overnight travel.

The pay range for this position is between $39.80 - $57.69 per hour.
