Technical scope • Provides leadership to the College community with expertise in information technology innovative solutions and national best practices. Applies high level of technical knowledge and skills to assess organizational requirements and develops solutions to complex technical issues. • Leads information technology teams to ensure a reliable technology infrastructure and integrated application solutions with a high degree of availability, integrity, and security. • Incorporates effective security measures within the College’s information technology environment that protects the College from cyber-attacks and cyber-failures. • Provides strategic-level enterprise perspective to guide and affect overall strategy, project priority, and direction to ensure technology and business integration, support, and execution. • Sets strategic direction and carries responsibility for overseeing operational technology including architecture, integration, enterprise resource systems, data center, security and data privacy, data management, customer support, enterprise applications, telecommunications, and disaster recovery. • Provides executive oversight of large-scale application selection and implementation projects with related budgets and teams. • Provides oversight of administrative computing including voice and data communications, data center operations, systems application support, data management, and web and mobile technologies. • Provides executive oversight of media services, and classroom and instructional technology for a multicampus district.
Communication and collaboration • Consults broadly with faculty, staff, and administration to set priorities, define goals, and clarify areas of responsibility; facilitates and maintains a high level of communication with the college community to ensure continuing dialogue and customer satisfaction. • Collaborates effectively with other key leadership team members to develop a robust and competitive information technology experience for key end users including faculty, staff and students. Assists in developing an infrastructure that supports students and faculty in teaching and learning and with the entire student experience. • Collaborates effectively with key stakeholders to optimize College business processes by utilizing information technology solutions. • Develops a culture that fosters a customer-focused, collaborative, supporting and accountable work environment with a focus on achieving results for the end users and enhancing student success. • Cultivates effective team leadership through demonstrating and expecting transparent communication that drives consensus building, accountability, trust, collaboration and respect.
Planning and improvement • Works effectively with the Chief Operating Officer to ensure that information technology is fully aligned with the larger mission, vision, values, and goals of the institution. • Participates in college wide strategic planning processes and corresponding budget development and fiscal management for information technology. Assesses information technology resources to determine how most effectively to utilize in-house solutions and outsourcing services and skills. • Effectively directs the technology infrastructure investments to meet growing demands in bandwidth, wireless, video, voice, storage, and virtualization technologies. • Maintains a staffing model that adapts to the rapidly changing information technology environment and realign positions to meet expectations of the College. Ensures quality professional development for information technology staff and administrators. • Deploys continuous improvement methods for all operational aspects of information technology. • Establishes clear standards, goals and outcomes for all units in information technology with corresponding assessment and improvement plans. • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Chief Operating Officer. |
