The Center for Space Science, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a Research Scientist to be responsible for independent research involving state of the art helioseismic techniques and teaching these techniques to undergraduate and doctoral students. In addition, he/she is responsible for the coordination of the Data Center for Space Science; including but not limited to data ingestion, data series management and coordination with the HPC team.
The successful applicant will conduct research in helioseismology. Potential research areas include (but are not limited to) imaging large scale solar convection, Rossby waves, active region inflows and machine learning to improve helioseismic analysis. The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhD-level scientists, graduate students and undergraduate students.
Applicants must have a PhD in Astronomy, Physics, or equivalent field. Expertise in C++, IDL, Fortran, Python, NetDRMS, Matlab and Machine learning is required.
