Design, configure, manage, and support CTDSâ™ large-scale cloud computing infrastructure.
Monitor infrastructure, troubleshoot issues, participate in security and compliance activities, process RMAs, and collect & report logging and metrics.Â
Support the growth of our existing large physical infrastructure in a hybrid model with public clouds in a secure, stable, and maintainable manner.
Deploy new systems.

Monitor and install cloud computing hardware, including lifting up to 50lbs.

Maintains complex system and network administration functions. Works with moderate guidance to administer simple systems and assists in the administration of larger systems.
Installs, configures, and maintains operating system workstations and servers. Performs software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages. Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum performance levels, acquiring higher-level skills in the process.
Ensures integrity by implementing appropriate routine software and hardware solutions. Conducts routine hardware and software audits of workstations, backing up all information.
Maintains all supporting documentation for comprehensive operating system, hardware and software configuration. Monitors primary responses for information technology related security incidents and violations. Keeps current with new security and network monitoring technologies, applicable laws, and regulations.
Performs other related work as needed.
Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
Advanced degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, engineering, or a relevant quantitative field.
2+ years of Linux systems administration experience.
Experience with Linux scripting and/or programming.
Experience replacing and installing rack-mounted hardware and components.
Familiarity with virtualization.
Experience with data center operations preferred.
Experience with monitoring and metrics technologies, such as Icinga, ElasticSearch Logstash and Kibana (ELK) stack, Graphite, or Grafana preferred.
Experience with automation technologies, such as Chef or Salt preferred.
Experience with cloud software stacks such as OpenStack, Amazon AWS or Hadoop.
Experience with ElasticSearch.
Experience with distributed file systems, preferably object stores such as IBM Object Storage or Ceph.Â
Experience with Git.
Experience with secured environments or protected data.
Experience with containers, containerization, and Kubernetes.
Ability to lead across a collaborative team environment.
Ability and willingness to acquire new programming languages, statistical and computational methods, and background in research area required.
Ability to prioritize and manage workload to meet critical project milestones and deadlines required.
Confidentiality related to sensitive matters such as strategic initiatives, trade secrets, quiet periods, and scientific discoveries yet to be put in the public domain.
Ability to take a broad plan and break it into incremental tasks and oversee the completion of each task.
Ability to come into a team used to minimal supervision and oversight and ensure accountability for deliverables and outcomes.
Ability to persuade others to adapt new structures or systems in order to meet objectives.
Ability to be detail-oriented and effectively work on all aspects of computer systems from low-level hardware to tasks such as automating virtual machine deployment.
