As a member of the Information Technology group the System Administrator II is a part of a team responsible for ensuring 100% uptimes, optimal configuration, performance tuned and adequately secured Linux and Windows systems. The main duty of this position is to proactively perform the technical day to day aspects of administering operating systems, hypervisor platform and the hyperconverged infrastructure they reside on. It is essential that the person in this role be customer service oriented, self-starting and highly motivated.
Essential Job Functions:
Installation, configuration, support and monitoring of Linux/Windows based systems.
Perform OS upgrades and patch management as needed.
Support of technical aspects of applications that reside on the Linux/Windows systems.
Ensure that the backup of systems and data are performed daily.
Effective management of System configuration and performance.
Ability to write and diagnose Linux/Windows shell scripts.
Implementation and ownership for security policies for the Linux/Windows systems and underlying infrastructure.
Plan and implementation of system upgrades and changes.
Conduct capacity planning as needed.
Establish and implement policies, procedures and technologies to ensure system availability, reliability and security.
Implement tools, procedures and processes to ensure efficient and optimal systems operations.
Monitor and coordinate maintenance of data center and co-location systems.
All other duties as assigned.
College degree with emphasis on Computer Information Technology preferred
3 years of experience supporting systems in an enterprise environment.
3 years working knowledge supporting users in an enterprise environment.
Knowledgeable in the administration of Active Directory and application of GPO’s preferred.
Knowledgeable in the installation and configuration of server operating systems (RHEL, Windows Server) preferred.
Working knowledge of VMware vSphere technologies (ESXi, vCenter) preferred.
Working knowledge of HCI platforms (Nutanix, Dell VxRail) preferred.
Solid understanding of networking fundamentals.
Advanced understanding of Network Services (DNS, DHCP).
Ability to troubleshoot, install and service server-class hardware.
Basic experience with scripting required.
Ability to conduct capacity planning and implement recommendations.
Must be able to support systems during evening, weekend and holidays, as needed.
