The Web Services Project Manager will provide leadership and project management for the planning and development of the Caltech Library websites. The website redesign project includes both the main Library and Caltech Archives websites and integration with both locally developed and licensed web services, such as the Library catalog, research and data repositories, archives management systems, and other web-based information resources.
Working with stakeholders within the Library and across the campus, the Project Manager will lead project teams in the development of functional and technical requirements, software platform and hosting selection, website design, implementation and content migration, quality control management, and project review and assessment.
The Project Manager leads the steering team, provides direction for goal-oriented project working groups, and provides progress updates to the Library Leadership Team and Library staff.
Provides technical and project leadership for library information discovery and delivery systems development.
Leads the library and Archives web reconfiguration and design teams in the development of the library's online presence on all platforms.
Coordinates technology implementation with librarians and other content managers and IT staff.
Works collaboratively with library staff and campus stakeholders to design and develop the technical foundation for new library services.
Identifies appropriate established and emerging technologies to meet the needs of digital projects.
Works with IT staff to design and enhance web-based library services and develop supporting infrastructure.
MLS or equivalent advanced degree.
Project management experience in an academic library.
Familiarity with the provision of web-based information services in a highly technical environment.
Understanding of contemporary library information structures, standards, and systems.
Experience with piloting and prototyping technologies.
Knowledge of user-centered design processes (user studies, use of analytics for data-centered decision making).
