What you’ll be doing...
This is a 24/7 availability role. The majority of the work can be performed during the day, there will be work required to be performed during the maintenance window hours between 12:00am - 6:00am. Flexibility in scheduling is a requirement. Responsibilities will include:
Work during maintenance window activities and on-call duties
Function as tenant Ops Engineer providing SME expertise on OpenStack supporting the core network application Subscriber Profile Controller (SPC)
Regularly execute medium to large-scale critical projects
Be responsible for performing root-cause-analysis and resolution for all issues with the operation of the production SPC
Troubleshoot call flows on all interfaces to the SPC
Work with system performance investigating error scenarios or changes in traffic, maintain/run daily health checks for the SPC platforms
Utilize multiple tools to debug call handling to/from the SPC endpoints, formulate recommendations for solutions dealing with network outages duration and/or improved system reliability
Perform the SPC bare metal migration to virtual SPC deployment in VCP Core 2.4
Implement detailed project plans for the deployment, upgrade, and supporting software and firmware
Monitor the operational status of equipment and take corrective actions to resolve issues
Monitor operational status, platform performance metrics, logging and alarming
Function as a tier 2 tenant Ops Engineer providing SME expertise on OpenStack, Linex, scripting, SPC functionality, Couchbase replication, VCP2.4 virtualization
Lead in the design and planning of SPCdeployment projects working with VoLTE DevOps engineering, ME,HQNP, NI virtualization of the SPC
Develop detailed project plans for the deployment, upgrade, and supporting software and firmware
Make decisions on VCP resources to support capacity & traffic forecast, support the budgeting process
Make design requests to Vzw support systems and HPE SPS for SPC monitoring & reporting
PoC to internal device and product teams for SPC deployment and service roll-outs
What we’re looking for...
You'll need to have:
Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience
Four or more years of relevant work experience
Experience in scripting languages such as Perl, Python, Shell
Experience with automation tools such as Ansible
Experience with Linux systems in an enterprise production environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Even better if you have:
A degree in Computer Science or a related field
Open Stack certification
Seven or more years of experience in telecommunications
Knowledge of IMS/VoLTE Architecture & Call Flows, LTE, IMS, VoLTE call flow, TCP/IP (incl. IPv4/IPv6)
Experience with Oracle/ Couchbase database administration & management, Diameter/RADIUS/TCP/IP, BGP, and authentication protocols (Entitlement, EAP-AKA, and REST API)
Experience with data center switching and routing design,firewall/load balancing technology and systems
Experience with Orchestration, Brownfield Discovery and Service Assurance implementation
Knowledge of OpenStack, Linux, and virtualization technologies.
Experience with scripting and automation of tasks (bash, Perl, Python, Ansible)
CCNA, OpenStack or RedHat Linux certification
