Director of Infrastructure, Operations & Cybersecurity

This position is a member of the IT leadership team and has responsibility for providing leadership, management, and innovation to the following functional areas:
Digital Infrastructure & Operations
Cybersecurity & Risk Management
In collaboration with the CIO and other ITS Directors, this position has an active involvement in development and execution of a strategic technology plan with goals and objectives working toward the strategic initiatives of the University, and oversees the design, deployment, and management of technology solutions to achieve those goals.
Essential Job Functions:
Manage the design and operation of University networks, data center, systems, and telephony.
Identify and implement best practice models, such as the ITIL framework, to enhance processes and procedures for delivering quality services that are aligned with business needs and objectives, improving operational maturity.
Develop/maintain metrics that reflect business value and create/maintain a culture of continuous improvement, customer service excellence and engagement.
Lead Information Security Program. Oversee ongoing security assessments and implementation of appropriate systems and processes that reflect a thoughtful balance between organizational risk, budget, and disruption.
Lead efforts to develop appropriate information security awareness across campus constituencies.
In coordination with other IT directors, design and deliver appropriate disaster recovery capabilities for critical IT functions.
Research, analyze, design, propose, and deliver solutions that are scalable and adaptable to changing business needs of the University.
Provide strategic direction and roadmaps for areas of expertise, including the infrastructure, architecture, systems and/or related business processes that ensure the implementation and operation of new technology/systems.
Work with the CIO and peers to develop standards and operational procedures that support current and future needs.
In coordination with the Director of Enterprise Applications, develop and design the systems that provide appropriate access and governance of user and administrator rights, thoughtfully weighing ease of use with information security demands.
Develop team members, anticipate changing organizational needs and identify I&O/ITSM skills and competencies needed to achieve strategic initiatives.
Develop active and engaged relationships with vendor partners, peer institutions, and external organizations to foster collaboration toward ITS and institutional goals.
Any and all other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Chief Information Officer.
BS degree in Computer Science, Technology or other related discipline
Five years experience as a systems administrator, security analyst, or related experience in an information technology field
Strong technical background, analytical and problem-solving skills, and communication abilities
Knowledge of networking principles, operating environments, identity/directory services
Experience leveraging cloud platforms (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) for IT systems/operations
Experience supervising staff and building high-performing teams
Previous success managing technology projects
Demonstrated ability to partner and collaborate with IT teams and business leaders
Self-motivated with the ability to manage changing priorities and meet deadlines
Proven ability to be flexible and work hard, both independently and in a team environment, in a high priority customer service environment with changing priorities
Evidence of personal focus on refreshing knowledge and learning new skills relevant to the field
MS or MBA degree
Demonstrated thought leader for technology with excellent communication and delivery abilities
Experience leading complex technology projects to successful outcomes and leading digital change initiatives
Has led successful I&O/ITSM maturity efforts
Experience within a higher education environment
