The Senior Infrastructure Lead is responsible for the strategic direction; design and overall day to day management of the infrastructure components supporting Informatics customer facing applications. The scope extends to the support of the connectivity to and from Abbott medical instruments over complex network systems. Supporting Sympheos, RALS LiNK and the Universal Gateway; based in over 40 countries; the role includes providing consultancy in the overall design, testing and implementation of new systems and applications as designed by the ARDx Informatics Engineering team.
Role and responsibilities
Responsible and accountable for the design and delivery of a reliable, secure, and cost-efficient infrastructure across all supported systems.
Leads the infrastructure support for multi-tenant customer facing applications
Responsible for implementing and monitoring of the security of the complete system, engaging with corporate IT services and external penetration companies for regular penetration testing; aligning to current security processes
Monitoring of security patches and updates and ensuring systems are regularly updates
Identify and define management and monitoring regimes to ensure deliver capabilities operate effectively.
Actively monitor failure; performance and capacity trends and propose adjustments to maintain efficient and reliable IT services.
Manages maintenance and upgrades for hardware and software platforms and implementation of new systems are required by the business.
Component connectivity device selection, appraisal, configuration, and testing.
Involvement throughout the product development Lifecyle to gain a good understanding of how a system works.
Plays a key role in the process of testing and sign-off of new & updated solutions, components and devices
Provision of ongoing tier 3 support for support/operations staff.
Input into the design and development of Abbott Informatics' connectivity solutions, to and from Abbott medical instruments over cellular services.
Input to the requirements, design and support of the infrastructure required to host Informatics software and solutions.
Comply with all appropriate Quality systems and processes.
Provides feedback into R&D for the design of new solutions and features.
Maintain confidentiality of any information being processed, stored, or accessed by Abbott Informatics solutions

This position is part of the global Abbott R&D oUS (outside the United States) Informatics Connectivity Team, which reports to the oUS Informatics Manager.
Qualifications and education requirements
A degree in Computer Science or a related field or A+ certification or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Expert level knowledge in the design, implementation; support and administration of Microsoft Windows Server (2012-2019)
Expert level knowledge in the implementation, support and administration of Linux based systems and platforms such as Ubuntu; Debian and OpenWRT.
Expert level knowledge in Vmware ESX, vSphere and NSX
Expert level knowledge in the design; implementation and support of NetApp enterprise storage arrays
Expert level knowledge in Microsoft SQL setup. Configuration and deployment including support and management of always-on availability groups.
Expert level knowledge in mobile (cellular) and data networks; including APN's, VPN's, routing, firewalling, troubleshooting and packet tracing and capture.
Expert level knowledge in the design and implementation of data centers and infrastructure components (hardware, software; network maintenance and operations)
Advanced level knowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud hosted environments
Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL queries
Advanced knowledge of secure mobile data networks, including SIM management, APN's, VPN's, mobile protocols, FTP, SMPP.
Document control management, maintenance and associated process experience would be a distinct advantage.
Advanced knowledge of validation and testing procedures.
