Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Administrative Operations, the Director of Technology Infrastructure and Support sets the strategic vision and management of infrastructure and technology services and serves as a consultant to senior leadership in the development of technological solutions. This candidate leads the direction, design, and continuous upgrade of ZI???s data center and computing infrastructure.
Oversees, leads and manages overall day-to-day administrative infrastructure and computing support for the research, faculty and staff
Supports the financial, academic and research goals and strategic initiatives of the Institute
Serves as the primary interface and liaison for all related IT business and components with Columbia University IT and other external constituents
Maintains financial responsibilities for technology services offered within the Institute, including the establishment of protocols, computing policies, best practices and procedures
Communicates and documents internal policies and ensures that policies and procedures are consistent throughout the department and in accordance with University guidelines
Lead, coach, develop and grow staff to develop and implement core research computing services
Services will include File storage and backup, High-Performance Computing (HPC), Virtual Server hosting, web hosting, Desktop support, and Audio/Visual support. Additional services may include data visualization and database services; establishes functionality and leads the operation of a Zuckerman Institute IT Helpdesk function for triage and support
Oversees, maintains and tracks purchasing of IT inventory for the Zuckerman Institute
Prepares information for presentations as required, and performs other related duties and special projects as assigned
Bachelor???s degree; preferably in computer science or management information systems. A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in technology leadership positions with an emphasis on infrastructure services.
The candidate should demonstrate a strong technical background and experience in Infrastructure management, System architecture, Technology life cycle management, Cloud computing and cloud operations, Networking, storage, Virtualization. Must have substantial experience leading, directing and controlling a complex, highly technical network operation or organization.
The successful candidate must be flexible in nature, have a sound judgment with a collaborative style that fosters teamwork and cooperation beyond the immediate team to the broader organization. Must have a passion for excellent customer service and commitment to exceptional quality.
