The Cloud Solution Architect works with functional SMEs (Subject Matter Experts), customers, relationship management, and project management teams to execute on the provisioning of automated and quality solutions that are configurable, scalable, and monitorable. This position is proficient in aspects of Cloud Computing and Engineering and readily adapts to support a variety of technical requirements in a dynamic and often fast-paced environment.
The Cloud Services team includes cloud architecture and engineering, systems administration and operations of cloud services. There is regular interaction with faculty and researchers as well as staff within and outside of IT.
Duties and Responsibilities :
Partners with other administrators and architects to execute the implementation of technical designs and assures the designs meet quality standards
Implements the provisioning of secure, repeatable cloud solutions to enable faster business adoption of cloud services
Transforms traditional services to modern architectures
Develops medium to large-scale cloud service development projects
Migrates existing services from physical data centers to cloud
Builds and maintains cloud-based operation tools for monitoring, notifications, trending, and analysis
Defines, creates, tests, and executes operations procedures
Troubleshoots production issues and engineers production workloads
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience is necessary
AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner (or higher) certification or ability to pursue within 18-24 months of hire is preferred
Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States and be a US Person/Citizen in accordance with ITAR regulations due to the nature of research support efforts
Experience with AWS services like IAM, EC2, S3, VPC, GuardDuty, CloudTrail, and more is necessary
3+ years' experience in systems administration/engineering/DevOps is necessary
2+ years direct enterprise experience in public and private cloud services, preferably AWS, is necessary
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with the capacity to work with multiple teams on completing a variety of tasks is necessary
Good communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical topics to a non- technical audience (including senior leadership) is necessary
A strong interest in working for a mission-driven organization is necessary
Strong customer service and satisfaction focus is necessary

Skill in turning thoughts into actions is necessary
