The High Performance Computing (HPC) System Administrator will operate, maintain, integrate, upgrade, and manage all hardware and software computing resources associated with the Department of Computational Data Science and Engineering, and those associated with the ViCAR Center, as well as other allied units as Directed by the CDSE Department Chair. The HPC System Administrator shall report to the CDSE Chair or his/her designee
Primary Function of Organizational Unit:
The Department of Computational Data Science and Engineering (CDSE) within the College of Engineering at North Carolina A&T State University, offers an MS degree in Data Science and Engineering and a PhD in Computational Data Science and Engineering. Its degree programs are interdisciplinary and admits students interested in learning and applying the core Computational and Data-Centered expertise. Graduates of CDSE degree programs are sought after for their ability to solve problems relying on big data, modeling and simulation, and/or visualization.
The CDSE Department houses and manages the Center for Visualization and Computation Advancing Research (ViCAR) and supports its mission to provide advanced computing and visualization resources to students, faculty, and researchers across Campus.
The CDSE Department and the ViCAR Centers are committed to providing a robust, scalable, staff-supported high-performance computational resource available to students and their advisors across North Carolina A&T State University. This resource helps address the needs and requirements of the research and education communities of the University.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or closely related degree from an appropriately accredited institution; or a Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in operations analysis and design, systems programming or closely related area; or an Associate's degree in Computer Information Technology, Computer Engineering Technology or Networking Technology from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in operations analysis and design, systems programming or closely related area; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
High degree of professionalism and customer responsiveness.
Ability to thrive in a high paced environment and able to work independently and in teams.
M.S. Degree in IT or related field and 5 years of experience as a system administrator in an HPC environment.
Experience in Linux system administration including experience on HPC systems.
Experience with scripting, including shell scripting. Ability to develop scripts to analyze system usage and performance and support the use of applications.
Knowledge of FORTRAN, C/C++, PERL, PYTHON, TCL and Linux shell scripting.
Experience installing applications, including compiling and linking.
HPC networking, remote file systems such as Lustre, NFS, PBFS (Orange) and object store.
Ability to develop/maintain effective relationships with all staff members by exercising tact, diplomacy and patience at all times.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills and strong work ethic.
