Reporting to the Director of IT, the incumbent will assist with technical direction and the research of new technologies. The candidate will require experience in system design and implementation requiring a high level of technical expertise in a variety of technical disciplines such as, Linux based high performance computing (HPC), Windows Server based accounts management, enterprise storage systems, networking, security and data center running 24x7.
The ability to adjust to rapidly changing technical requirements is essential, as is willingness to assume high level responsibilities and take initiative and multi-tasking. Specific responsibilities include, but not limited to:
OS Deployment (CentOS, Ubuntu, Windows Server, Mac OSX)
Networking (10/40/100 Gb/s Ethernet and Infiniband)
Active Directory, LDAP, DNS, DHCP services.
Scripting (Bash, Python, Perl, PowerShell)
Configuration Tools (Ansible/Puppet)
OpenHPC, Open OnDemand, xCAT, SGE/SLURM, Ganglia/Grafana, Splunk, Nagios, Zabbix.
Enterprise storage systems (Isilon/Qumulo/NetApps/LUSTRE, NTFS, SMB, ZFS, GPFS)
Web/DB servers (Apache/Nginx, MySQL, Wiki, uswgi)
Development environment (C/C++, Python, R, MATLAB, Java, GIT)
Provide escalated technical guidance to junior engineering and desktop personnel.
Effectively communicate with high level researchers and developers and vendors.
Document technical details, diagrams and user instruction on Wiki.
Due to 24x7 Data Center operation, some off-hours coverage will be required.
Ability to occasionally install hardware weighing up to 50 lbs.
Manage service requests via helpdesk (ServiceNow).
Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Director of IT.
Bachelor???s degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus four years of experience in Information Technology.
Master???s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology.
Certification in various technologies like Linux, Windows, Networking, Storage, Virtualization, Security, Cloud will be a plus.
Experience of HPC in higher education or research labs will be highly desirable.
