What you’ll be doing...
The VNOE team is taking on a growing responsibility in the key revenue generating segment of private enterprise networks. These networks take the best in class private 4G and 5G core networks and combine them with Mobile Edge Compute (MEC). You will be a technical leader on the team that is taking these next generation private networks from proof of concept to production quality deployments and managed services. You will own the engineering of the Private Network E2E Services and therefore will have a strong knowledge of the NIB (Network in a Box) and adjacent domains including private MEC required to offer a fully operational Private Network. You will also be familiar with all elements of the Private Network solution: NIB EPC Core, NIB IMS Core, PaaS/CaaS orchestration of 5G VRAN.
You will review the business requirements from VBG and the high level designs provided by Network Planning and translate them into a Private Network End to End deployment and integration plans in collaboration with all other Private NIB ME SMEs (Cloud, IMS Core and EPC Core) Identifying, evaluating, and driving new opportunities through an expert-level comprehension of network design, Common APIs, and web technologies.
Designing, building, testing, and deploying services and APIs that will be integral to the operations toolkit.
Integrating the private network (NIB) E2E services and elements with a FOA and production environment (including EDN transport, VCE, EPC, ENM, MEC SPOG and Spidernet, as needed).
Partnering with internal teams (Technology Planning/Design, MTCE, Product and) and external vendors to deploy scalable carrier grade onsite networks via orchestration.
Leading the effort to transform the way we do operations by promoting a DevOps mindset.
Maintaining overall system health and connectivity to adjacent Network elements so that the infrastructure is readily available for testing creative configurations for new/existing Enterprise customers and to support troubleshooting of production issues.
Submitting recommendations for product improvements and new feature development as they relate to the E2E Domains/Services of the Private Network.
Supporting complex testing when patches, upgrades, updates or new features and functionality are delivered by the vendor.
What we’re looking for...
You’ll need to have:
Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
Six or more years of relevant work experience.
Experience in cloud design principles pertaining to HW/SW stacks & cloud data center architecture, strong wireless 4G/5G RAN and Core knowledge, and network design engineering background.
Experience working with hardware components and design, as well as software development lifecycles.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
Three or more years of distributed software design & development experience.
In-depth demonstrable knowledge of 4G/5G Core and RAN technologies.
In-depth demonstrable knowledge of cloud architecture and open source tools.
Demonstrated experience building Container based solutions using Kubernetes, and/or Docker Data Center/swarm.
Experience in OS virtualization and containerization isolation technologies.
Experience in deploying VNF’s utilizing internal orchestration frameworks such as ATLAS/NFVD
Strong Scripting Skills (Python).
Strong Knowledge of IP Networking including Virtual Private Cloud, VPN, SDN, DNS, Load-balancing, and Firewalls.
A proven track record of delivering large systems to a predefined schedule.
Previous record of distilling highly complex technical solutions into business cases for leadership.
