Responsibilities The IT Project Manager supports the UC Davis Health Director of Informatics and Information Technology division. This role will lead and/or support a variety of functions including - project management, process improvement, and special projects or initiatives that impact the organization. This individual will serve as a Project Manager for UC Davis Health's Health Data Oversight Committee (HDOC) structure. UC Davis Health's HDOC program represents an innovative, multi-committee program that oversees all aspects of health data use in support of reporting and analytics at the organization and provides guidance to the UC Davis Health Data Center of Excellence (Data CoE).
This individual will work to ensure that HDOC-specific committees operate smoothly, track/follow up on action items, help to identify creative solutions for incompletely defined and/or complex issues, and project manage activities that are derived from the committees. The HDOC is responsible for overseeing data activities related to: data request management, data source management, metadata management, data sharing practices, computing resource management, and the use of real-time analytics (artificial intelligence, machine learning) in clinical or near-clinical settings. HDOC-specific projects include the development of standardized project intake workflows, the development of tools for assessment of project impact, risk, and level of effort, and the development of methods for committee evaluation of projects. In addition to HDOC-specific functions, this position will also be assigned and manage projects and/or activities from the UC Davis Health Data CoE. The Data CoE consists of three related service cores including a Data Provisioning Core, Health Computing Core, and Health Analytics Core. Data CoE projects are varied but generally follow the HDOC's domain areas. Examples of Data CoE projects include large scale data acquisition and/or curation efforts, development and implementation of data architectures, development of data self-service tools, and the development and deployment of enterprise analytics solutions. The Project Manager will work in a highly engaging, mission-driven, multi-disciplinary team setting that includes clinicians, informaticists, business leaders, and data scientists.
Bachelor's degree in computer science, business administration or a related discipline with an information technology focus.
Advanced knowledge in all phases and components of project management with the ability to manage projects with organization-wide impact
Knowledge of business and process analysis functions
Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to explain technology solutions in business terms, establish rapport and persuade others. Fosters relationships and effectively collaborates with a diverse body of UCDH staff.
Self-motivated and focused on the goals and deliverables of the organization and the IT division and is always working to deliver and support these goals.
Sophisticated problem-solving skills to effectively define and address daily challenges and deliver assignments in a dynamic environment.
Highly organized and focused on critical deadlines; ability to review and prioritize workload and makes adjustments as needed.
Expert in building credibility, trust, and rapport with stakeholders at all levels, both within and outside of the organization
Project Management or Process Improvement certification, i.e.: PMP (Project Management Professional), CSSGB (Certified Six Sigma Green Belt), or equivalent.
