FAIS seeks a full time Senior Accountant to begin immediately. The Senior Accountant must possess strong organizational, analytical, and complex task management skills with excellent interpersonal skills and customer service oriented attitude while handling confidential information. This role must work effectively as part of the Business Office team, but also able to manage time effectively and work independently.
The primary role of this position is to support the mission of the School by responsible for processing Payroll and Accounts Payable for the staff and vendors and reconciling the activity in the related general ledger account. This position is part of the Business Office team that assists the Chief Financial Officer in developing and implementing account policies and procedures and also works closely with Human Resources and Accounts Receivables.
Analyze employment contracts and compensation agreement to set up pay and leave benefits
Review timecard and time off requests for incomplete information and for approvals
Ensure accuracy of base wage for all employees and of supplemental earnings
Issue manual checks as needed
Review employee reimbursement requests
Prepare and submit monthly payroll file to third party provider
Download, review and upload payroll journal entries to accounting system
Reconcile (monthly) all GL account related to payroll
Document payroll process and propose methods to streamline practices
Verify employer retirement plan matches and calculate and remit Foreign Pensions
Reconcile (monthly) all GL account relating to benefits and insurance billing
Run reports on GL account activity as needed for various employees/departments and committees
Participate in annual 403(b) audit, Compliance Data Center census for retirement plans and Affordable Care Act reporting
Review all invoices and documentation for appropriate approvals and information; input into accounting system.
Pay all payables as needed (vendor invoices, employee benefits, employee reimbursements, garnishments)
Distribute checks after obtaining authorized signatures
Process bank ACHs and wire transfers
Reconcile (monthly) all GL accounts related to payables
Document payables processes and propose methods to streamline practices
Record ACH payments and bank charges in accounting system.
Participate in annual financial statement audit.
Verification of employment for employee loans and unemployment claims.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting is required. Minimum of three years full charge accounting experience with advanced accounting software applications is required, Payroll processing experience and proficiency with computer applications (specifically Word, Excel) is also required.
Preferred Qualifications: Five years of accounting experience with emphasis on Not-For-Profit/Fund accounting. Multi-state payroll experience. Veracross software and Paycom payroll system experience is preferred.
