The Systems Administrator I works within the Network Operations team to support the campus Windows servers, VMware and storage environment, Active Directory, Office 365, Multifactor Authentication, and network infrastructure. Working with the Manager of Network Operations, other system administrators, and other departments, the Systems Administrator I is responsible for day-to-day tier 2 responses and coordination of escalations as necessary with various vendors. This position is also involved in maintaining network and server infrastructure and vendor coordination related to onsite and remote data center services. In addition, the Systems Administrator I will be involved with projects to upgrade existing technology or deploy new technology as needed. This position also works closely with the network administrators to provide backup and assistance on an as needed basis.
A bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience required. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to resolve technical issues even in unfamiliar scenarios. This will include researching problems, recommending solutions, communicating with end users, and documenting resolution steps. They will also have a willingness to learn new technologies and procedures.
They will have experience with and/or knowledge of the following:
- Networking & Routing Basics - DNS, DHCP, public and private IPs - Active Directory - Group Policy - VMware - Windows Server 2012/2016/2019 - Physical Data Center Infrastructure maintenance - SaaS/IaaS/PaaS understanding
Experience with and/or knowledge of the following is preferred:
- PowerShell - Linux - Office 365, Azure Active Directory (Hybrid) - Multifactor Authentication (Duo) - Enterprise VOIP (Skype for Business/Teams) - Enterprise Class Storage (Dell/EMC) - Enterprise Wireless Networks (HP/Aruba) - Next Generation Firewalls (Palo Alto)
