Position Summary Reporting to the Director, IT Project Management , the Project Manager - Infrastructure Operations will provide a wide range of operational and administrative support to the Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) IT team. The successful candidate will assist with and advocate for the use of healthcare technology to support the clinical, academic and research entities of Columbia University Medical Center. The Project Manager - Infrastructure Operations will ensure the alignment of the infrastructure team to the IT PMO, CUIMC IT Security, and CUIMC clinical systems teams. He/she will implement the CUIMC Cloud Strategy (Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud) in coordination with cloud architecture team and provide oversight for the ongoing service management for all CUIMC IT users to ensure IT infrastructure services are rolled out in a timely fashion and appropriate service level agreements are being established and enforced. The Project Manager - Infrastructure Operations is a technologically adept and proactive individual who has good management skills, a strong sense of teamwork and stellar communication skills. He/she will also collaborate with staff, physicians and others involved in the care of the patient to ensure best practice workflows to achieve our mission of providing the most advanced, highest quality, safest and most efficient care for our patients.
The incumbent's focus is the achievement of strategic departmental goals by enabling the timely introduction of required technological capability as well as deployment of new infrastructure technologies required to support overall government competitiveness and compliance. General supervision is received from the department leadership. Performs related work as required.
Responsibilities - Ensure operational excellence by providing input, oversight and alignment to the CUIMC IT infrastructure team, IT PMO, CUIMC IT Security, and other CUIMC IT staff - 10%
- Create training material including training manuals, tip sheets and other educational materials for key CUIMC IT infrastructure initiatives - 10%
- Provides guidance on how to effective plan and meet objectives to implement the the IT Strategy and IT Operating Plan - 10%
- Applies a service and cost focus in the computing environment for Total Cost of Ownership, while documenting service level agreements and expectations, in coordination with our Chief Technology Officer and Chief IT Operations Officer - 10%
- Documents technical infrastructure standards and architecture. Documents all necessary materials to support operations for our computing / data center environment and organization to meet current and future needs - 10%
- Maintains an awareness of technical infrastructure key challenges and opportunities and prepares briefings as needed for the Chief Technology Officer, Chief Information Security Officer, Chief IT Operations Officer, and Chief Information Officer - 10%
- Create agendas and take minutes as needed, in direct alignment with the Chief Technology Officer - 5%
- Facilitates and contributes to the ongoing development and implementation of the CUIMC IT strategy through an integrated technology planning process that is coordinated with our Chief Technology Officer- 5%
- Responsible for documentation of proper resource planning, project prioritization and project steering for infrastructure projects, in coordination with the Chief Technology Officer and the IT PMO - 5%
- Work with the Chief Technology Officer on management and tracking of software licenses, hardware purchases/agreements and consulting engagement agreements - 5%
- Responsible for communication and change control management for technical infrastructure initiatives - 5%
- Work with our Chief Administrative Officer on a proper training environment and program is in effect for Infrastructure and Operations personnel - 5%
- Ensures that the Infrastructure and Operations team operates in alignment with the Information Security Office, by working closely with the Security Project Manager and our Project Manager Security Operations - 5%
- Other duties as assigned - 5%
Minimum Qualifications - Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience plus 4 years related experience in Information Technology, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration or related field
Preferred Qualifications - Strong interpersonal skills; ability to lead, interact, communicate and teach effectively with multiple disciplines within the medical center - physicians, nurses, office managers etc.
