We're looking for a Senior Security Officer to join our team supervising one of our 24/7 security teams. In the role you'll be responsible for supervising and leading the Society's (24/7) front line operational security teams. You'll ensure that security operations effectively safeguard the Society from security threats that have the potential to compromise the safety and security of Society members, personnel, offices, data centers and other assetts. You'll ensure your team provide an excellent level of service to all customers and that the team are recognised as the "first point of contact" for all security related queries, issues and incidents. You'll be confident in making decisions as to the most appropriate response required, to ensure end to end incident management is achieved. In the role you'll ensure there are effective procedures in place to respond to all security alerts or calls for assistance received by telephone, radio or through activation of intruder alarms as specified in operating procedures. You'll provide competent 1st line technical support to help resolve or identify system performance issues and take appropriate remedial action to resolve any issues. Building strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, including the Police and third party suppliers, working closely with department managers will be key. You'll act as the first point of contact for all security incidents and emergencies. You'll make and communicate decisions as to the most appropriate course of action to resolve any situation, this will involve coordinating external emergency services during incidents, as required. You'll actively develop and coach individual team members with respect to their personal performance and create a positive working environment with high levels of employee engagement. You'll also be responsible for proactively developing, monitoring and reviewing MI to produce comprehensive MI reports for the wider team. Recommending and implementing changes to processes and procedures to improve operational effectiveness of the team. To be successful in the role you'll have recent experience of supervising and leading security staff, ideally in a multi-site security control room environment in a medium to large public sector, retail or fast moving and/or financial services environment. Y ou'll have proven leadership and management experience and will have recent evidence of dealing with business stakeholders at different levels, including Senior Management. You will be capable of creating and enhancing operational processes and procedures, as well as creating and analysing performance MI. You'll have good knowledge of criminal law in relation to security matters e.g. theft, criminal damage, arson and assault. You'll also have good knowledge of security control room operations, including legislation and industry standards for CCTV, and demonstrable experience of response/interaction with access controls, intruder alarms, fire alarms, communications systems, building management systems & Microsoft Office suite. You'll have excellent communication skills with the ability to engage people and build positive relationships. Self-motivation is a must in this role. You'll need to have the tenacity to follow up on outstanding actions; holding stakeholders supportively accountable. You'll therefore need to be both assertive and resilient. A license holder SIA CCTV (Open Space Surveillance) is preferable but not essential.
