Performs daily operational activities and processes for the management of Windows and Linux servers in an enterprise environment. Responsible for administering agile infrastructure using automation tools. Performs a variety of technical tasks including, but not limited to server lifecycle maintenance, solutions design, requirements gathering, product installation and configuration, custom code development, and system documentation.
Utilizing automation tools such as Puppet, Ansible, and SCCM where possible, deploys and supports the lifecycle of servers, new technologies, and related services. Participates in problem-solving efforts, often involving other teams and ensures escalation when needed. Monitors server availability and performance levels of data center and computer systems including hardware, software, and equipment. Follows a set of procedures and run books for operation, maintenance, and restoration of servers and associated applications. Performs file and system level restores as needed by staff and business operations. Reviews system event logs to ensure proper operation for supporting systems within system infrastructure. Maintains a strong understanding of emerging practices in systems administration and related technologies. Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or related field. One (1) year of systems administration experience with Windows or Linux servers in a virtual environment or the equivalent experience and one (1) of the following certifications: MTA: Windows Server Administration Fundamentals, CompTIA Linux+.
One or more of the following certifications: M365 Certified Fundamentals; Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals; MTA: Windows Server Administration Fundamentals; CompTIA Linux+; Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA). Experience using automation/configuration management frameworks on server systems (Puppet, Ansible, SCCM, etc.) KNOWLEDGE, SKILLSANDABILITIES: Ability to work within a hybrid development, engineering, and support team. Ability to collaborate with team members, staff, and customers. Ability to provide excellent customer service. Skilled in communicating effectively both orally and in written form to a variety of constituents at varying levels of authority within the organization. Ability to think intuitively and analytically to break down and resolve problems. Ability to read, understand, and follow high-level policies and guidelines and apply those guidelines to daily responsibilities. Ability to work proactively and independently. Ability to exercise good judgment and make sound decisions. Ability to pay close attention to detail and work under pressure. Ability to analyze system components and support options. Ability to be a forward, creative, positive, and flexible thinker.
