Position Summary: Administrate central servers and their associated storage. Develop storage backup plans and monitor their performance. Build new resources as required. Monitor and control all aspects of the campus data centers
Project management. Develop and implement project plans to ensure successful implementation of server and storage tasks
Manage ongoing server and storage operations
Communicate with department manager for daily and strategic assignments updates. Review short and long term objectives
Provide technical assistance, resource and follow up to administrative areas
Interface with management and staff in any area where server or storage related work is being performed. Suggest resource to address problem areas
Maintain detailed documentation of all server and storage configurations
Participate in scheduled meetings. Review tactical and strategic plans. Address new and recurring issues. Identify areas in need of attention
Develop and maintain services. Provide continuous service improvement
Process routine administrative paperwork, initiate process and follow through for service reports, equipment inventory
Track, perform, and schedule all tape rotations for all systems run by ITS. This includes both internal and external vendors associated with on- and off-site storage
Experience & Educational Background: REQUIRED:
Bachelors degree, with a focus on computer technology
At least 3-5 years of experience in the IT department with hands-on managing in a server computing environment where the following experience has been gained:
Virtual server environments including VMware ESX clustering
NETAPP Storage Configuration and Management experience
Office 365 environment
Active directory experience including group policy and federation services
AIX, RH5-7, SUN Solaris, and centOS
Having undergone the relevant certificated seminars and workshops in data Center management from IBM, Oracle or Microsoft is an advantage
A Masters degree in IT management
Skills & Competencies:
Should possess extensive technical experience in maintaining WINDOWS and UNIX operating systems and the administration tools peculiar to the systems to be managed.
The position requires an understanding of UNIX and WINDOWS server best practices, appropriate security modeling, networking services and backup technologies
Active Directory experience including Group Policy and federation services
Microsoft Windows Server, including clustering
VMware ESX experience a must
NetApp Storage configuration and management
Microsoft monitoring and reporting
Experience with backup and recovery technologies; RMAN
Experience in managing a data center
Should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
Should possess excellent organizational, supervisory and managerial skills
