At Stony Brook Medicine, a Systems Administrator is a valuable member of our team, who will provide Level 3 support for Windows and Linux Systems. The incumbent will be asked to assist in user management, share management, Data Center support, OS patching and troubleshooting of daily tickets.

Duties of the Systems Administrator may include the following but are not limited to:
Provide timely response and follow-up for day-to-day Help Desk tickets and support issues.
Management and troubleshooting of Windows and Linux physical/virtual servers.
Asset Management for all Stony Brook Medicine supported servers.
Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of active components, resources, disk space and key processes.
Reviewing system and directory services logs.
Work with other engineers to upgrade current environment to more updated software (ie. Windows 2012 to 2019, RHEL 5 to 7)
Assist with implementing system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system including installing, upgrading/patching, monitoring, problem resolution, and configuration management.
Assist with backup and recovery services; manage file systems and disk space.
Assist in the management of the Citrix XenApp environment. This includes troubleshooting connectivity issues and provisioning new servers.
Assist in the day-to-day management of the Data Center including server racking, new rack installs.
Assist with testing new releases of products to ensure compatibility and minimize user impact.
Assist with development and documentation of technical processes and procedures as needed.
Administer and support Office 365 Azure and Exchange policies
Maintain a highly secure system through proper configuration and system access monitoring
Assist in the management of Microsoft licensing.
Participate in paid on-call/after-hours support rotation with onsite recall emergency response.
Bachelor's Degree AND three (3) years' experience in Systems Administration (supporting VMWare, Active Directory and Windows/Linux OS Support) OR in lieu of Degree, six (6) years related experience in medium/large enterprise (over 1,000 computers).
Possess outstanding communication skills while adhering to our high standard of excellence.
Work both collaboratively with team and customers while also being able to work independently.
Experience with enterprise level ticketing system
Working knowledge of Citrix
Working knowledge of Office 365 Administration
Working knowledge of Data Centers
Working knowledge of Asset Management
Working knowledge of SAN and Server Virtualization.
Ability to write and/or edit scripts
