We are a neuroscience research institute with about 50 labs. Many labs have research equipment (cameras, microscopes, sequencers) that generate a lot of data. Our storage system is two (2) Petabytes and it will continue to grow.
Having a lot of data available online is difficult to manage and expensive. We are creating a data archive solution that will give researchers the ability to move their data from the primary online storage system to an archive storage system.
We could not find an archiving solution that does what we need and decided to design and create our own. We are looking for a student who can help us and write the front end web interface . The web interface will be used by researchers to:
1) Archive their data from the primary storage system to the archive system; and 2) Restore their data from the archive system to the primary storage system.
This is an opportunity to create something that does not exist already.
You will be a part of the Zuckerman Institute Research Computing group of senior level infrastructure experts and architects. We have our own data center, a lot of storage, on-demand compute and a GPU cluster.
