This position is responsible for the administration, implementation and support of the university’s core server systems, including virtualization and storage. Responsible for the overall health of the IT data center and server operations.
Primary Responsibilities :
This position will be the primary administrator of the university’s IT storage and virtualization platforms. In addition, this position will serve as lead administrator for several key server technologies.
A bachelor’s degree and 3 years of experience is required.
Experience with SAN and NAS technologies (Dell/EMC) technologies required.
Experience with VMWare virtualization required. In-depth knowledge of Windows server operating systems required. Some experience with Linux operating systems helpful.
There is some infrequent heavy lifting involved when equipment is moved in the data center (< 50 lbs). There are also small, often dimly-lit status lamps that must be checked frequently and audible alarms that must compete with considerable background noise. A modest degree of dexterity is required to manipulate small parts on the equipment, but this is infrequent. Lastly there's the complexity of dealing with many more software applications than the average user would, many of which have no special accommodations built-in.
