University Development’s purpose is to support the mission of the university by raising private resources from alumni, friends, and other constituents to enhance financial support for students, faculty, programs, and facilities. University Development provides leadership and centralized development services to the 30+ other development shops across campus, serving as a focal point for principal/major gifts, gift planning, annual giving efforts, prospect management, corporate and foundation relations, stewardship, and communications.
This position will assist the IT Systems Specialist in providing server systems administration for approximately 84 physical and virtual servers for UDO (University Development Office) located at ITS Franklin Data Center. In this role there is researching, planning, purchasing, installation, integration, and maintenance of server systems as well as SANs (storage area networks). All of the infrastructure related to our Enterprise level self-hosted Blackbaud CRM (DAVIE) development database, departmental file storage, PowerShell scripting(programming) , iSupport Helpdesk System upgrading/maintenance, SolarWinds Logging System, DPM Backup System, and various web application hosts will be maintained by this position which impacts the work of DAVIECRM users campus wide as well has our Central UDO Organization (over 745 users). Also, this position will provide Active Directory Administration, IT Systems Security Administration, Group Policy Administration, Firewall Maintenance, Systems Documentation, SQL Database Monitoring, Database performance tuning, and be the primary backup for the IT Systems Specialist position.
Education and Experience:
Required Experience: Previous experience with Virtual Server technologies, knowledge of MS Server and MS SQL server security best practices. MS Active Directory Administration, MS Group Policy Administration, MS Windows Server 2012 R2, MS SQL Server 2014, MS IIS, MS SQL Database Performance tuning, troubleshooting, and maintenance are required.
One must possess strong analytical and systems integration skills in order to design, implement, troubleshoot and maintain this variety of systems. Issues can arise in any number of places, and it is not always clear if it is software, hardware, wiring, network hardware, vendor or customer based. This requires being able to work quickly under pressure and implement the best fix while at the same time exhibiting strong interpersonal skills with other analysts and customers. A superior customer service ethic is required.
Preferred experience: MS Windows Server 2016, MS SQL Server 2016, MS SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), MS Server and SQL Clustering Technology, Microsoft Hyper-V Server, Dell SAN Technology, MS Group Policy Administration, MS SCCM experience, PowerShell scripting, Log Event Management Tool experience (Splunk, Solarwinds), Windows Desktop Support, Blackbaud CRM, Qualys Vulnerability Scanning/remediation, Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager, MS WSUS server, DNS, General firewall knowledge as it relates to MS server, SQL Server, and MS desktop hardening and use in Virtual Lan environments.
