Pay Grade/Pay Range: 58 Monthly (exempt): - Minimum - $ 40206.36 Midpoint - $ 58302.36 Department/Organization: 200001 – VP Academic Affairs Office Normal Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00a.m. to 5:00 p.m Job Summary: The Staff Engineer I supports engineering projects by adapting and applying engineering techniques; conducting tests and inspections; and preparing reports and calculations. Additional Department Summary: This position involves the facility management of the National Water Center (NWC), a building located on the campus of The University of Alabama (UA) and owned/operated by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)/National Weather Service. The incumbent will assist in the environmental operations of the facility and will participate in the oversight of a broad spectrum of critical building systems including HVAC, data center cooling, generators, transfer switches, Electrical & UPS Systems. Opportunities to build technical skills include project management, security, space planning, development of ACAD layouts, budget management, life cycle costing and Federal reporting and regulation requirements. This is an entry level position and will facilitate the college-to-career transition by providing opportunities in a variety of work experiences and developmental opportunities to build technical and leadership skills. Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field. Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: The final candidate must have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam. Skills and Knowledge: A strong knowledge and solid ability to work in and produce Microsoft Office suite. Although work is often sedentary, bending, climbing, and crawling are necessary on some assessment, and repair assignments. Preferred Qualifications: Working knowledge of AutoCAD design software is preferred. One to two years of work experience in engineering, architecture, or a related field is preferred. is preferred.
