This Office of Security Programs (OSP), Facilities Management Division, is seeking a dynamic Facilities Operations Specialist (Critical Systems) who will support facilities maintained and operated by the Office of Security Programs for Legislative Branch Agencies and Organizations. Responsible for performing facilities, building operations and maintenance, space management, contract administration and oversight of critical systems and data center maintenance activities.
Provides and supports overall management of facilities and critical infrastructure supporting data centers and associated facility components and systems. Conducts inspections of critical facility systems to monitor operations and maintenance activities and to identify unusual situations that may require non-scheduled maintenance.
Monitors equipment such as elevators, fire alarms, sprinkler systems, electrical distribution systems, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment, refrigeration units, surveillance systems, perimeter security systems and acoustical barriers.
Provides oversight of contractors performing maintenance and preventative maintenance of mechanical, electrical and facility systems.
Determines facility and client needs and takes action based on the needs assessment that would enhance and benefit OSP facilities and client operations.
Coordinates and prepares Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Method of Procedures (MOPs) for building controls, key equipment, systems, services and scheduled outages. Reviews and ensures adequacy of SOPs and MOPs produced by facility maintenance contractors. Works with the Facility Manager to coordinate all work associated with critical infrastructure upgrades, emergency responses and planned outages.
Develops plans, schedules and coordinates day-to-day work requests, client service tasks, custodial efforts and small, facility-related projects. Works with the Facility Manager to ensure critical work tasks and projects are captured on the Integrated Priority List and that projects/tasks are executed in a timely manner once funding has been secured.
Follows all relevant safety rules, regulations and standard operating procedures. Utilizes knowledge of and complies with all OSHA safety rules and regulations to ensure that work progresses in a safe manner. Provides or receives training, either on the job or through classroom training, to ensure that all safety practices and equipment are fully utilized. Must ensure the use of any required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
