The Department of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences, housed in the School of Public Health, has an outstanding opportunity for a part time 75%FTE, Research Consultant for PATHWAYS, an NIH-funded longitudinal study of prenatal and early-life exposures to chemical and non-chemical stressors and associations with child health and development.The Researcher will be a staff scientist in the PATHWAYS Data Center, based at the University of Washington, Seattle. Data Center scientists work closely with PATHWAYS investigators at various institutions, including Seattle Children's Research Institute, the University of California, San Francisco, the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, and others. PATHWAYS is part of the Environmental Influences on Child Health Outcomes (ECHO) consortium (www.echochildren.org).The person in this position will be expected to carry out high quality, accurate work in a multi-faceted research environment where command of quantitative details is essential. The ideal candidate will be organized, flexible, and self-motivated with a desire to learn, good communication skills, and the ability to work and thrive in a diverse, interdisciplinary academic research environment. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Managing and analyzing complex datasets related to pediatric health, environmental exposures, social determinants and psychosocial stress variables (e.g., poverty, maternal stress during pregnancy), including survey-derived study data and data derived from public records (e.g. US Census data, local crime statistics) describing area-wide/neighborhood characteristics.* Performing statistical analyses with supervision of experienced scientists.* Producing material to describe data and analytic results, such as tables, maps and figures.* Contributing to reports, peer reviewed manuscripts, publications, and presentations.* Attending and contributing to regular data team and project meetings. * Independently planning and conducting statistical analyses with minimal supervision.* Contributing to epidemiological analyses, including writing data analysis plans and manuscripts.* Conducting critical reviews of the research literature.As a UW employee, you will enjoy generous benefits and work/life programs. Minimum two years of experience in research involving environmental chemical exposures and/or social determinants of health. Familiarity and interest in maternal and child health research. Minimum two years of experience developing code in R, Stata, and/or SAS. Proficient with Microsoft Office products. Other requirements include a demonstrated facility with analytic tasks, a strong quantitative aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret complex analytic information. Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except where there are legal requirements such as license/certification/registration.DESIRED EXPERIENCE Doctorate in epidemiology, statistics, biostatistics, geography, sociology, or related field. Preferable skills include previous experience managing and analyzing complex datasets, including US Census data and publicly-available datasets. Familiarity with one or more advanced statistical methods utilized in PATHWAYS analyses, such as multiple imputation, spatial modeling, structural equations modeling, or cluster analyses.
