The Enterprise Systems Engineer is primarily responsible for the system level administration of Emerson College's 170+ virtual Linux environment as well as the VMware virtualization infrastructure itself. The administrator will lead and be a key administrator in projects requiring the provision, deployment, security, upgrading, and retirement of Red Hat/ERP application servers. This position will also serve as the primary resource in IT for web server administration (including Apache/Tomcat, Lighttpd, A10 Load Balancing, Single Sign On, and Nginx). The Enterprise Systems Engineer will be a key strategist and administrator as we migrate workloads to the Cloud and develop an IaaS environment. This individual will act as the secondary Systems Administrator for the remainder of Emerson's server environment, including 150+ Windows servers, enterprise applications including email, the event management system, cloud file storage, the source code repository.

This position is an essential position, meaning that it will be required to report to work in emergency situations.
Primary administrator for all Linux systems, with an emphasis on Banner, the on-premises student ERP Red Hat/Tomcat environment, as well as its components and dependencies (includes DegreeWorks, EIS, and SSO).
Work closely with database administrators and the Enterprise Systems team to ensure successful student registration, as well as Banner (and dependent) application patches, upgrades, research, and routine maintenance.
Primary administrator for Emerson's web environment (includes Wordpress, Drupal, load balancing and Apache/Tomcat servers), registration load testing environment, and Linux based appliances.
Primary administrator for server-based disaster recovery and backup.
Primary administrator for all IaaS servers, applications, and migrations, as well as the on-premises ESX environment and SAN/NAS systems. As it develops, act as the primary administrator and strategist for cloud migrations and cloud infrastructure.
Secondary systems administrator for Enterprise Microsoft environment, including Active Directory and Windows servers.
Provide assistance when necessary to other team members responsible for the campus' VoIP phone system, wired and wireless networks (Juniper/Aruba, DNS/DHCP/switching), and data center (firewall, etc.).
Perform scheduled system upgrades and respond to emergencies/outages outside of business hours.
Responsible for mapping and documenting server inventory and system dependencies.

3 or more years of Senior Systems Administration experience, primarily Linux administration
3 or more years' experience with VMware/vCenter and network storage
3 or more years' experience managing web server environment and load balancing
Develop comprehensive root cause analyses of issues
Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and adapt to change
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and complete work within agreed upon timeline
Degree in related field
Advanced knowledge of Mac OS
3 years' experience managing a 5000+ active user Microsoft/AD environment
3 or more years' experience working in higher education
Past experience in network administration
Previous hands-on experience with front-facing IT support role
Demonstrated experience managing servers in support of Banner or other ERP systems
Demonstrated experience supporting and troubleshooting various database environments
Demonstrated experience with switch management, enterprise cloud storage, enterprise email administration, DNS/DHCP management, Java deployment, and system backup.
