To manage the design and development activities for a group. responsibility Includes systems and application analysis, programming, feasibility studies, etc.
Responsible for managing a team of network engineers to develop enterprise solutions for the FedEx core network backbone that includes carrier connectivity and optical capability, data center/backbone routing, internet peering, extranet/vendor connectivity, public cloud connectivity, and IP addressing. The role will also include leading and driving a cross-departmental virtual team to define network architecture and reference design for the entire FedEx global enterprise network platform.
Responsibilities Include but not limited to the following:
Design and implement modern network solutions that leverage leading-edge software defined technologies – SDN, SD-WAN, etc.
Implement multi-gigabit high-speed data connectivity solutions all data center paradigms: on-prem, collocation, and public cloud
Manage carrier interconnects and establish relations with telecom providers to drive innovation and speed enhancements in all parts of the FedEx network
Manage and maintain cloud interconnects to public clouds such as Google, Azure, Oracle, and AWS
Provide technical leadership to all global networking teams through reference architectures and strategic directions to ensure that the global network stays cohesive and current to meet growing business needs
Coach, inspire and build a high-performance team
Knowledge/Skills Considered a Plus:
Demonstrated leadership ability, business acumen, and industry knowledge in the networking area
Key certifications in the network technologies
Strong analytical, data management, and problem-solving skills
Proactive approach in anticipating and managing project life cycle events, issues and obstacles
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Expert in financial management and organizational change management
Effective consultative and influencing approach
Ability to promote innovative ideas and accept the risks that are required to lead change
Able to foster and build a collaborative working relationship with various stakeholders

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree/equivalent in computer science, math or directly related quantitative Degree or related field. A related advanced degree may offset the related experience requirements. Five (5) years systems development experience which includes programming. Skill in one or more programming languages. If position is in mainframe environment, complex systems experience on IBM operating systems or microprocessors required. Experience in the technical design and development of major data processing projects. IMS experience. If position is in client/server environment, systems development experience to include distributed systems is required. Experience in client/server technology, object oriented (OO) development or case tools. Experience in the technical design and development of major client/server projects. Knowledge of software and engineering principles. Strong basic management, human relations and communication skills. Travel required.
