The Senior Server Engineer leads a team ofServer Engineers responsible for Windows Server, VMWare, and otherinfrastructure technologies. Responsible for the stability, integrity,availability, and performance of these technology-based services, ensures theday-to-day operations, maintenance, upgrades, and patches of servers andsupporting systems. The Senior Server Engineer provides best business practicesupport and guidance to junior engineers as well as the user community onapplication deployment and delivery, implementation of server hardware andoperating systems, and options to optimize delivery of applications. Installsand builds servers for the deployment of applications in a variety ofenvironments and platforms, provides server performance analysis, and createsplans for disaster recovery. The Senior Server Engineer will also have thefollowing responsibilities, including but not limited to:
ï¿½Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for other Server Engineersby providing consultation, mentoring, performance feedback, and support
ï¿½Work with management to define strategic direction
ï¿½Design, architect, install, and document enterprise-wideinformation systems, servers, and services in support of Baylor Scott &White's core businesses
ï¿½Manage and support various services and load balancing inmultiple environments, determining requirements through discussions withcustomers, vendors and other IS departments
ï¿½Designs, and develops effective solutions, specifications andquotes, based upon customer needs, systems, and standards.
ï¿½Build and configure server hardware, operating system andapplication software following approved procedures and standards establishedfor the IS Data Center.
ï¿½Integrate systems within the enterprise directories according toestablished policies and procedures to ensure customer access requirements
ï¿½Maintain, administer, support and troubleshoot the appropriateservices using approved enterprise tools and methods to ensure availability andperformance
ï¿½Provide quality and timely technical support and assistance tocustomers, vendors and other IS personnel to resolve problems and issues in aclear and concise manner
ï¿½Evaluate system performance by running tests using appropriatemethodologies and tools. Perform periodic maintenance to restore, maintain andimprove the performance of all information systems
ï¿½Manage projects to ensure the quality and timely implementationof data center systems using established tools and procedures while monitoringproject status and resolving issues in a timely manner
ï¿½Act as a resource for IS team members, providing technicalexpertise on new and existing technology and guidance in how to solve complex,technical problems related to hardware, software, operating systems, and datain a professional manner
ï¿½Participate in the interviewing and onboarding of new ServerEngineers
The ideal Senior Server Engineer candidate willhave five years of experience designing, building, configuring, and supportinglarge infrastructure environments to include networking protocols, clustering,replication, encryption, tape/disk drives, and backup and restore technologieswith the ability to architect complex enterprise solutions with specialconsideration given to application performance and resiliency, configuration,optimization, and troubleshooting. The ideal Senior Server Engineer will alsohave the following skills and experience:
Extensive knowledge of several or all of the following: Server systems, storage arrays, fabric configurations, SAN, NAS, Fiber Channel, Microsoft Active Directory and Windows infrastructure services such as AD, GPO, DFS, DNS, replication, certificate services, ADFS, Virtualization of network, SAN, and Server technologies, VMWare technologies
Three-Five years of experience including some or all of the following: Designing, building, configuring, and supporting a large storage environment, Networking protocols, clustering, replication, encryption, tape/disk drives, and backup and restore technologies from IBM, EMC, and DataDomain
Experience architecting complex enterprise solutions for application performance and resiliency
