Are you looking for a challenging senior position to advance the Cloud efforts at Carnegie Mellon University? We're seeking a Cloud Architect who will have broad and deep responsibilities in the adoption of Cloud computing across the University. You will engage other architects to design, develop and integrate existing IT infrastructure, standards, processes and services with cloud platforms. We will work strategically to achieve goals that are best for the organization but not lose sight of tactical issues in order to ensure timely solution delivery.
Using your strong interpersonal skills, we will collaborate with colleagues across campus who are involved with enterprise service domains including Finance services, HR and Payroll, Research Administration, Student Services, as well as many other diverse administrative functions. Using the expertise of our partners, you will drive the university toward improved and more efficient solutions.
You will build prototypes and proof of concepts, and then automate and deploy highly available distributed services on public cloud infrastructure.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent
At least 8 years of relevant work experience
Experience with one or more public, private or hybrid Cloud platforms, such as AWS, Google, Microsoft, OpenStack, or VMware
Solid experience with architecting and operating server and/or desktop Virtualization environments (VMware, Microsoft, Citrix), especially with automation tools such as Terraform, Chef or Puppet.
A deep understanding of computer networking and networking support services, especially with virtual and cloud environments
A broad understanding of cyber security, including policy, compliance, network security controls, etc.
Demonstrable experience with project delivery; leading multi-functional teams or contributing as part of a team
Superb communication, problem solving, planning and analytical skills
Tireless passion for relationship building and ability to communicate effectively with partners at multiple levels, including Vice Presidents and Senior Leaders, across a large enterprise.
Solid knowledge of data governance practices, business and technology issues related to data quality, storage, protection and dissemination.
Demonstrable experience as an influencer and motivator with the ability to make difficult decisions with tact, maturity, and good judgement.
