Illinois Wesleyan University (IWU) is accepting applications for Director of Network and Infrastructure Services. This full-time, exempt position directs the day-to-day operations of network, data center, voice, infrastructure, and services. Responsible for directing and managing the network and systems team, as well as negotiating and maintaining vendor partnerships. The Director is responsible for overall strategic leadership, programming and tactical delivery of complex technology infrastructure that includes: network (WAN, LAN, WLAN), servers/services, voice technologies, cloud technologies, other IP based services and technologies. Assist the CTO with establishing policies, procedures and standards relating to IT, as well as making recommendations for departmental budgeting as it relates network infrastructure expenditures. Responsible for reliable and timely execution of backup/restoration and Disaster Recovery procedures and actions.
Leading, directing and performing day to day operations of the University’s network, data center, and voice services, while managing network and data security of these services in support of business operations, teaching and learning, and the student experience.
Programming, deploying, investigating, documenting and managing related staff of:
Networking (WAN, LAN, and WLAN)
Programming (IWU servers and services)
Voice Technologies (IWU VoIP systems)
Planning, creating and implementing policies and procedures relating to ITS network usage. Staying current on “Best Practices” and trending issues.
Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education, certification, and experience.
Significant experience in managing data and voice network services and infrastructure in a complex environment is required, as is advanced knowledge of computer and telecommunication systems, and operations best practices.
Experience in providing leadership in an information technology organization and supporting a clear IT vision, project management, and the ability to execute decisions and establish priorities.
Excellent written, planning, verbal and troubleshooting skills.
The ability to work collaboratively with all levels of leadership and promote a healthy and inclusive work environment. This position is on-site; no remote.
