This Data/Voice Technician - Cisco will be responsible for:
Responding to network failures (Data and Voice) and provides technical guidance in identifying, segmenting, and validating the cause of failures and restores service. Coordinating the activities of vendors in systems restoration as needed.
Diagnosing network problems using sophisticated test equipment that show bit level operations. Analyzing data communication bit structure and reconfigures LANs/WANs based on signaling characteristics as needed.
Operating proprietary LAN/WAN network management systems. Uses network software systems to monitor systems, diagnose problems, or correct failures.
Working with vendors and staff in the installation and configuration of network products including network switches, routers, and other network equipment as needed. Works with Network Operations & Design in the diagnosis of network related issues.
Documenting failures and restoration procedures and make recommendations to systems configurations to avert future network outages.
Working closely with other Hospital departments including Hospital Engineering and Facilities Planning. Assisting in the training and development of network technicians.
Writing detailed procedures and operational instructions for the Communication Services Department. Reviewing and updating documentation with staff and vendors as needed.
Install/Troubleshoot fiber connections and patching within Data Closets and Data Centers.
In order to qualify you must have:
Cisco Router and Switch operational knowledge recommended. Ability to configure and troubleshoot Cisco Catalyst switches. (Cisco CCNP or CCNA certification a plus)
Knowledge of TCP/IP. (subnetting, routing standards)
Familiarity with Ethernet cabling standards (Cat5, Cat6, etc) and troubleshooting methods. (Fluke testers)
Ability to lift and move heavy equipment .(50lbs+)
Knowledge of PC network configurations. (including wireless)
Knowledge of ticketing systems (Remedy) and MS Office applications. (Word, Excel)
Exceptional customer service skills.
Experience with various Fiber Cable technologies and connectors. (LC/SC/ST/MTP/etc).
Knowledge typically acquired through an Associate's Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
