This position will be part of the IT Network team which provides primary support for the data network which includes LAN, WAN, WLAN for all CCHS sites including 2 hospitals, 2 data centers and over 40 remote sites. The team provides support for over 32,000 connected wired and wireless devices, 300+ network devices including switches, routers, load balancers, firewalls, wireless controllers, SSL/VPN's, Fiber distribution systems, Distributed Antenna System for Cellular coverage and Digital TV Head Ends.
The individual applying for this position should be at a Network Engineer level or equivalent typically 5-10 years of network experience. Consideration will be given to those with slightly less experience if there is proven ability to learn quickly and take on more responsibility. This position will primarily provide support for our Aruba Wireless Network. The person selected for this position will be working with our Sr Systems Engineer who currently maintains this wireless network. Currently the wireless network consists of over 2100 access points which will be expanding to over 2500 in the near future. The current wireless network consists of master – local controller pairs at our major sites but will be getting a major upgrade in the upcoming months .
Knowledge of wireless networking concepts such as SSID's, 802.1x, PSK, RF levels, SNR, Channel utilization and 802.11a/g/n/ac/ax would be expected. Experience installing and supporting wireless networks with the ability to troubleshoot coverage issues, interference issues and client issues would be expected.
Additionally, this person should process solid knowledge of IP data networking including routing and switching configuration including VLANs . Experience with firewalls or firewall type rulesets Possession of good network troubleshooting skills including an understanding of protocols such as DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, as well as the ability to capture, read and diagnose network traces with products such as Wireshark are essential. Familiarity with WiFi troubleshooting and planning tools such as AirMagnet would be very beneficial.
The ability to work well as part of a team and with intradepartmental teams is of prime importance. The individual is expected to have an understanding of various network monitoring tools using SNMP and syslog messages. Current tools being used include Aruba's Airwave Management Platform (AMP), Spectrum, LogLogic, SevOne, and Extreme Management Center. This position will require on call coverage of a week at a time which will be rotated with the other members of the team for an average of 7 weeks per year. This position will also work with some direction and input from our Network Architect and Windows Architect.
This individual needs to be self-motivated to learn and apply the inner workings of the more complex data network equipment, applications and tools. Proven educational and responsibility growth in previous jobs would be expected. They must maintain good communication at all times, provide technical assistance, support, education, training and standards to IT staff. Possess the ability to write effective support documentation for the areas they support.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS :
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent degree or the minimal equivalent experience of 5-10 years in a Network Systems Analyst/Engineer position.
An equivalent combination of education, industry certifications and experience may be substituted.
Network Wireless Certifications such as ACMA, ACMP, CCNA Wireless, CCNP Wireless ,CWNA, CCWP or similar are desirable.
