VUMC IT Desktop End User Engineer (VirtualDesktops)
Serve as the VUMC IT Desktop Engineering virtual technical supportfor the VUMC IT Enterprise Virtual Environment in support of over 30,000Virtual Machines in 2 data centers.
Sustain the Virtual Environment.
Support major incidents pertaining to Virtual infrastructure.
Significant experience at the Enterpriselevel with experience using the following:
Understand Change Management/ITSM processes
Support all Windows OS versions
Proficiency with MS Office (advanced level)
Performingdaily system monitoring
Performingadvanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis to expedite incidentresolution.
Developscripts to gain efficiencies for reporting and automating repetitive tasks.
Proficient in VMware virtual infrastructure, including, butnot limited to, vCenter Server Appliance, vRealize Operations Manager (vROps),vRealize Automation (vRA), vRealize Orchestrator (vRO), vRealize Business, HorizonView, Update Manager and familiar with NSX.
Developing VMware vCenter and vROps reports for performance,troubleshooting and capacity planning.
Provisioning and cloning virtual machines and serverappliances as needed.
Understand the difference between linked and instant clones,as both are used within the VUMC virtualinfrastructure.
Maintaining and restoring virtual machine "backups"and snapshots.
Performing upgrades and applying patches or firmware updates tothe virtual infrastructure software or hardware.
Responding to support calls both during and after businesshours/weekends/holidays/shutdowns with on- call rotation 1 month out of every 5months
Providing configuration management and security compliancefor the virtual infrastructure software and hardware.
Developing and updating standard Documentation, operatingprocedures and user guides.
Completing service requests or incidents tickets in supportof the virtual infrastructure.
Collaborating with vendors, customers, application owners andother teams as necessary for projects, tasks and customer support.
Providing technicalleadership in support of projects requiring virtual resources.
BachelorâsDegree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related disciplineand 5 years of VMware engineering experience or have a minimum of 13years of experience using VMware Horizon View (Client-Side support).
Ableto pass VUMC background checks, preferred a Public Trust clearance.
VMware vRealize Automation (vRA) and VMware vRealizeOrchestrator
VMware vCenter and VMware vCenter/vRealize Operations (vRops)Manager.
Working knowledge of multiprocessing, threading, concurrency,distributed systems, load balancing and high availability.
Interpersonal skills including the ability to collaborateeffectively, self-awareness, and excellent written and oral communications.
Drive efficient resolution of all incidents throughanalytical and structured approaches to problem solving.
In-depth understanding of Active Directory, DNS and otherWindows core services.
Learn new products and technologies.
Develop standard operating procedures and projectdocumentation.
Research solutions for various business needs and technicalproblems; this includes evaluating alternatives and providing recommendations.
VMware-Certified Professional (VCP6-DCV)
Deploying and Sustaining Antivirus in virtualtechnology
Server virtualization technology, such as VMwareor Hyper-V
