The Enterprise Network Engineering Manager is actively involved in the management and guidance of the Enterprise Network Engineering Team. Example of these responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Budget Planning - Perform the research and planning need to create, then submit the capital and operational budgets for the team. Assist other teams in providing the necessary budgetary information for annual budgets and project-related budgetary costs.
Business Acumen and Partnering - Participate in both learning and sharing business related knowledge that will better enable the team, as well as other cross-functional teams, in the support of critical business, clinical, and infrastructure release systems. Partner with other cross-functional teams to achieve team, department and organizational objectives and goals.
Coaching and Development - Provide the necessary employee coaching end development, both technically and professionally, to enable and empower the employee to succeed within the organization as well as become experts within their technical field.
Performance Reviews - Develop the employee job descriptions and evaluations that are required by the organization for the annual performance reviews. Complete the necessary review responses and employee reviews for each member of the Enterprise Network Engineering Team. Provide follow-up feedback to employees through-out the year on their overall performance within the team.
Policy and Standards - Work with the technical lead of the Enterprise Network Engineering Team, other cross-functional teams, and leadership, in the research, development, publishing, and support of policies and standards that support the organizational objectives and goals.
Project Management - Work with team resources, cross-functional teams, and vendors in the research, planning, and execution of complex enterprise level projects.
Recruitment and Hiring - Review and recruit perspective employees to the team and organization. Schedule and perform technical and team-oriented interviews of those identified in the recruitment process. Complete the needed documentation and coordination required for onboarding of new employee to the team. Assist other managers in the recruitment and interview process for their respective teams.
Resource Planning - Provide supervision and guidance to the Enterprise Network Engineering Team in the coordination and assignment of database team resources to organization projects and support tasks. Work with cross-function teams and leadership in the planning and assignment of resources needed to achieve organization objectives.
Technical Planning - Develop of strategic roadmaps and related timelines that help position the Enterprise Network Engineering Team to meet both the short-term and long-term technical and business-related objectives of the organization. Provide the required management oversight to guarantee the successful completion of the listed projects and timelines.
Vendor Management - Build and maintain successful vendor relationships that help the team and organization identify and deploy the best technical solutions needed to meet a project or organizational goal.
The responsibilities the Enterprise Network Engineering Manager include the guidance and leadership of a technical team of Enterprise Network Administrators in the design, deployment, upgrade, and support of enterprise and facility network infrastructure systems. Examples of the duties and responsibilities included, but are not limited to, the following:
Network Administration – Provide manager level support for the required work associated with network administration, such as the installation and configuration of network infrastructure, the deployment of backup and recovery processes for network, and the implementation of maintenance processes that ensure the continued stability and performance of network systems. Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE)
Network Time Machine
Network Infrastructure Architecture - In collaboration with the Enterprise Network Architect, Enterprise Network Technical Leads, and architects from other cross-functional teams, and at the oversight of Leadership, design, implement, and support the physical infrastructure that hosts the Enterprise Systems at AdventHealth, including providing the required budgetary quotes and documentation.
Network Infrastructure Support – Provide the manager level support for the deployment of infrastructure network topology architecture, processes and reports. Investigate functionality issues related to application data, security and system configurations. Work with the Network Engineering Team and other technical application teams in the review, analysis and resolution to application related performance issues.
Disaster Recovery – Provide the necessary resource assignment, coordination and training needed to perform the scheduled Disaster Recovery tests for designated mission critical systems.
High-Availability - Work with other application and other technical teams in provide localized high-availability
Lifecycle Management - Develop detailed plans, including related timelines, for the scheduled refresh and Network version upgrades of existing systems. Coordinate with other cross-functional technical teams to align the lifecycle initiatives with their lifecycle plans. The project plans should incorporate both short-term and long-term technical objectives, along with analysis on capacity, performance and security considerations.
Monitoring and Optimization – Oversee the team with the monitoring, optimization and diagnosis of currently deployed network systems. Provide the appropriate documentation to management, detailing the root cause analysis of outages, performance concerns, and propose resolution and optimization options. Examples of specific tools to monitor and optimize system performance include: SolarWinds, Cisco Prime, Network Probes, Packet brokers, iPerf, SDA and Cisco DNA Center, .
Security - Establish, review and update network security standards for the network systems at AdventHealth in relation to organizational and best-practice objectives. Design, develop and implement processes that gather database security information and provide exception reports based on identified requirements.
Technical Research and Evaluation - Perform in-depth research, evaluation and analysis of application and Network technologies. Maintain vendor relationships and coordinate vendor activities where needed. Provide both in-depth and high-level proposals to management based on performed research, analysis, and results from POC deployments.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Proven skills in the coordination of team resources for enterprise projects and support tasks. This includes the facilitation of weekly team project meetings.
Proven skills to lead a technical team of Enterprise Network Engineers in the technical areas of Route/Switch Security, and Wireless technologies.
Proven skills in providing guidance, mentorship and development of team of technical engineers.
Proven skills in serving in the role of an escalation contact for a technical operations team.
Proven skills in both verbal and written communication.
Proven skills with Cisco platforms such as Cisco Catalyst, Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE), Nexus, Firepower and Palo Alto Firewalls in a production environment.
Proven skills with network operating systems such as Catalyst, Nexus, Linux and Windows systems.
Proven skills in discussing and planning application architecture with cross-functional application, business, technical teams and third-party vendors.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:
Technical writing skills.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
B.A or B.S. in a degree such as Computer Science, Information Systems or Information Technology or 8 years related experience.
Minimum of 8 years in the support of an enterprise network platform in a 24x7 environment, including platforms such as Wireless, Security and Route Switch.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in supporting network infrastructure platforms such as wireless Flex Connect, VPN, Content filtering, Data Center, Nexus, Catalyst and management.
Experience as either a technical or team lead of a Enterprise level network engineering team or related technical area.
The Enterprise Network Engineering Manager is responsible for the coordination and guidance of a highly-experienced team of Enterprise Network Engineers in the deployment and continued support of network infrastructure systems in the areas of Route/Switch, Security, and Wireless technologies. Technologies utilized by the Enterprise Network Engineering Team include: Cisco ACL, Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE), Cisco Meraki, Cisco DNA Center, Cisco Prime, Cisco Catalyst, Cisco Nexus, Cisco Fabric Path, Cisco Firepower, Palo Alto Firewall, Panorama, IDS, IPS, Silver Peak SD-WAN Optimization, NetBrain, LiveAction, and Wireless Flex Connect. The position also requires demonstrated competence in LAN/WAN technologies, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, Spanning Tree, SDN, SDA, and Software Defined Networking. The Enterprise Network Engineering Manager is responsible for the coordination of cross-functional teams in relation to the deployment and support of the physical/virtual network infrastructure, which includes technologies such as VMWare, Linux, Windows Server, physical Servers, and enterprise storage arrays. Last, the Network Engineering Manager is responsible for all aspects of administrative and personnel management of the Network Engineer team, which include budgeting, employee development, performance reviews, and resource planning.
